I am taking part in the Great Scottish Swim on the 26th August, by swimming one mile in Loch Lomond in order to provide funds for women who have been trafficked into Scotland.

Many young women are tricked and trafficked into prostitution into the U.K. from countries all over the world. Sometimes they are abducted and sometimes they are lured by the promise of a good job by a boyfriend who 'loves' them or a person they trust. When they arrive they are violently forced into prostitution by their traffickers. If the women are rescued they are free from their traffickers, but the phase of recovery is beset with difficulties too. Often they have to seek asylum here because they would not be able to return to their own countries (for many reasons).

Glasgow Safety Services cares for all the women, and their children, who are rescued in Scotland. The government provides essentials, such as a basic clothing pack. However, often this doesn't stretch far enough even for the most practical things let alone some treats and respite care. These women have been through more trauma than most of us can imagine, I would like to be able to help them get on their feet and not have to worry about finding money for the things they need to recover and heal.

Prostitution is a form of violence against women; please help us to lobby for an end to the demand for buying sexual services.
