About
The orchestra is a space full of cultural diversity, reflecting the richness that holds into its country. The players range from 10 to 25 years old and most of them come from disadvantaged backgrounds, yet all of them have a huge passion for music, learning and playing both Western Classical pieces and works from South American’s rich repertoire. Their principles are: quality, discipline, equality and solidarity. They dream with this cultural exchange in Europe, to meet and learn from European orchestras and theaters. They search for these music opportunities, learning abroad and taking part in community projects.
Their message to the UN
The orchestra looks forward to develop and grow a better understanding between countries through music, leading to have a better understanding of the “other”, promoting acceptation and peace. That’s why they need to be supported by you, to project themselves as examples, a reference with principles and moral, people responsible for their own culture.
So, the orchestra, being an active cultural actor, is trying to line up with the objectives of the Sustainable Development Agenda of 2030 by the UN, conscious that the culture is a main factor for the nations’ development, forming, perfecting the human being to make a better world.
Therefore, in Ecuador, this Orchestra has important differential contents compared to the other youth orchestras in existence: they innovate in how to approach and generate public as part of their learning process, including coaches, ambassadors and other professionals. Furthermore, they learn to use the motivation of music as a vehicle of social transformation.
Their Orchestral Conductor’s wish
Music Conductor and renowned Cellist, Diego Carneiro says about the orchestra: “After a successful trip to Brazil, where the orchestra collaborated with international musicians and played in mainstream concert halls, the Corcovado and a favela, the passionate young people want to play more and learn and share more music. Coming to Europe, our next challenge, where a huge array orchestras and projects are based, is a dream to come true. As someone who has previously come from South America, supported by European foundations, to study at The Conservatoire in London, I can relate to their desire to broaden their musical horizons but also to act as musical ambassadors for their culture across the world. This trip is symbolic and empowering to these young people in so many ways: changing lives through music.”
Help us to fly and sustain our brotherhood of cooperation!
The Ecuadorian Youth Orchestra began its trajectory with a concert in 2016 to fundraising and support some population of damaged people after a big devastating earthquake in that same year. At the same time, they’re looking for your support, which will help them to continue changing lives of others through music.
