    Story

The money raised will go directly to the community in Murugi to provide healthcare, support for those who are HIV positive, education and sponsorship to orphaned and needy children, School building, maintenance and repair of existing schools.

I went to Kenya this February and i've seen how even very small amounts of money do make a huge difference to the people of this community. The provisions, donations and aid that this project provides go absolutely directly to the people, no middle-man, no desk jobs, no salaried charity workers, just hard work on the ground, and with members of the community

    Dorset/Murugi Community Projects

After a visit to Mount Kenya in 1999 - The Dorset/Murugi link was set up to build an affordable health care centre for local people.

On the East side of Mount Kenya, Meru county, The Baragu Health Centre, completed over 14 years, now has a full medical clinic, maternity unit, dental clinic and provides outreach programmes to local schools.

Growing over 19 years, the Dorset/Murugi partnership attempts to meet some of the needs of the community through :-

Child sponsorship - more than 185 orphaned and needy children are supported. (On this trip we are going to build a small house for 3 orphaned children)

HIV positive group - education, support meetings and monthly food handouts to those that are HIV positive.

Schools and Classrooms - Each year they build, repair and renovate classrooms and install electricity.

Education exchange - Dorset Teachers have visited Kenya and vice versa creating a valuable education exchange for both communities.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and if you feel compelled to contribute to the cause then bless your cotton socks and thanks very much.
