Story
My daughter Poppy is raising funds for a school in Uganda affiliated with her school in Harrogate. For a number of years, Highfield School has been supporting the building and on-going development of a new school in Bombo. They have also been supporting the children who attend the school and their families through a number of sponsorship schemes.
I've decided to do my bit to help too! I find it truly inspirational what the teachers and pupils at Highfield have been able to accomplish so far. The funds they have raised have contributed to a number of developments at the school over the years and an innovative solar lighting system has also recently been installed using money raised by Highfield pupils. The sponsorship of families and pupils at Bombo has also helped considerably in the health, welfare and education of those less fortunate than ourselves.
But there's still a lot more we can help with. Your support would make a profound difference to the next stage of the school's development - a new classroom block that will give more facilities to the school and enable more children in Bombo to enjoy an education.
There's no such thing as a free lunch though right? So to earn your sponsorship I have decided to put myself through my paces by entering a cycling sportive called The Yorkshire Struggle. The Struggle is 108 miles long, taking in 9430ft over seven climbs set within North Yorkshire’s stunning scenery. Trust me, it's going to be a real struggle!
Anything you can do to help would be truly amazing. The Struggle is on 21 May and I'll let you know how I get on, assuming I live to tell the tale of course!
Thank you for your support.

7 years agoThank you for all of your support! I made it round the course yesterday in one piece...probably the toughest thing I have ever done. I didn't feel particularly well but I battled through it and got round in just over 8 hours. Your generosity definitely kept me focused and kept me going on the hills! I cycled round with my brother Richard and here's a photo of us at the finish line! Thanks again - your support means a lot to me and will make a huge difference to the children and the families in Bombo, Uganda. Thanks, Andrew.
