Story
At the first HMC JCR General Meeting of Michaelmas Term 2016, the JCR unanimously passed the Oxford Students Refugee Campaign (OXSRC) Motion, committing to raising funds for refugee scholarships at the university.
We are now calling on all HMC students to **make a donation of £12 before 6pm Friday 9th June** (the closing date provided on Just Giving, 27th June, is incorrect). Following a college commitment to match donations up to the value of £2,000, we are setting £2,000 as our overall fundraising goal. It is not compulsory to contribute, but it is strongly encouraged as a token of our commitment to this cause as a college. For those who cannot afford to gift £12, lesser donations will gladly be accepted. Students who wish to contribute more than £12 are of course most welcome to. Any donors who wish to remain anonymous may do so.
We will be providing updates on the progress of our fundraising, and look forward to seeing everyone rise to the £2,000 challenge!
P.S. Just Giving charges a 5% service fee on all donations. While this isn't ideal, we need to collect the funds in our JCR Account before sending to OXSRC, and it emerged from our research of competitor websites that only Just Giving permits donations to organisations other than registered charities. We felt that the site was worth the cost, given its accessibility and transparency relative to direct transfers / cash payments.
