- Funded on Friday, 30th April 2021

Story
Sadly Honeybrook Adventure Farm is closed due to coronavirus restrictions but the lovely animals still need to be kept well fed and healthy ready for when they can re-open, hopefully in mid July. It costs about £500 a week to look after the animals and any size of donation would be very much appreciated. Any funds will go towards animal feed and welfare costs. If we reach or exceed our target this will help us through re-opening and into the winter months.
Honeybrook Adventure Farm is a tourist attraction and farm education centre providing fun and interaction with a variety of friendly farm animals for families and school groups. Honeybrook also provides valuable work experience and training for assisted-needs people of all ages and for many students doing animal course placements. It is run by a very small dedicated team who have a passion and enthusiasm for providing fun and learning at a family friendly admission price.
We also work with local farmers, particularly at this busy time with lambing. Orphan lambs and triplets (Mummy sheep can only feed two lambs) which otherwise wouldn't survive are brought to us for some tender loving care and when stronger go back to their flocks. We bottle feed around the clock and keep then warm and healthy - a pack of milk powder costs £36 and babies need feeding every few hours.
The current Covid-19 pandemic has impacted on countless businesses and lives. For Honeybrook Adventure Farm this has meant the closure of our farm gate to our many visitors just as the weather has improved after months of rain and storm damage. We have had the cancellation of all our school group bookings and birthday parties and these usually provide a top-up income to help us through the quieter visitor number months. With social distancing it is likely we will need to re-open with reduced capacity and fewer activities available - e.g. indoor softplay, tractor rides, indoor cafe and even the outdoor play areas will be restricted or not permissible.
Since the middle of March 2020 our income has come to an abrupt end. The government has promised grants and funding but we are slipping through the cracks of eligibility criteria and have not received any help to date. We have been told that we are not eligible for the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant Fund of £25,000 as we are in shared premises and pay rares inclusive rent.
We now have an urgent need for help to feed the animals that are staying on the farm and any associated vetinary needs as we have new born lambs, goats and calves. In our attempt to keep Honeybrook Farm open we are seeking assistance from anyone who is able to help us with funding to care for our animals during the next few months until we can welcome the public back on to our farm once again.
We appreciate that this is a very difficult time and are truly grateful for any donation you are able to spare.

4 years agoAre you warm enough? Our skinny pigs have no fur to keep them warm so they huddle together and have a heat lamp to keep them cosy- even during the lovely weather we've been having! If anyone can help us with feeding our lovely animals during lockdown we would be very grateful. A 10kg bag of guinea pig feed costs £25 and we have the furry guinea pigs as well as the skinny pigs to feed. When we started fundraising we never imagined we would still be closed in June. Every donation helps us feed our adorable animals thank you!
