Hi, I’m Piers.

I am currently in desperate need of a new wheelchair after my current wheelchair is broken beyond reasonable repair. A new wheelchair, like a shoe, needs to fit me perfectly for it to work properly, and as a result will cost upwards of £4000. I have managed half the cost so far, however I am struggling.

My wheelchair is essential to my independent and fulfilling life; without a good wheelchair, I am unable to cook, clean or go shopping by myself - let alone continue with my current commitments.

I currently live in Bangor, North Wales where I am studying at university. Being in a mountain range for university means that any wheelchair I use has to be able to withstand North Wales, as well as frequent travel around the country from the volunteering roles I do.

I am currently the founder and captain of a wheelchair basketball team, which helps disabled individuals get into sport and lead a healthy lifestyle. I also help disabled students participate the best they can in education through a national representative position I do in my spare time.

I try to do the best I can in any situation however without an adequate chair, I am stuck. I have tried almost every option for charity support or governmental however due to a multitude of small reasons, I am ineligible.

I was planning on climbing Mount Snowdon with the support of Undeb Bangor and friends to try and raise money for disability sports. This herculean task will only be achievable with a reliable wheelchair.

If you ask my friends they’ll tell you I am always rushing around trying to help people - usually so quickly I could beat road runner! I am however at breaking point and would greatly appreciate it if you would support me in taking back my freedom and independence!
