Ukraine – Hungerford Support Appeal
https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfu.../hungerford-ukraine-aid
We need your help and support!
A small team from Hungerford and Lambourn is finalizing a trip out to Poland to take much-needed medical and personal supplies. We will be handing this kit over to Ukrainian volunteers in Kraków where it will be taken onto the Ukrainian capital Kiev, including an essential heart monitor. The remaining general medical and first aide supplies as well as feminine hygiene products, warm clothing, batteries, blankets, teddys for children and more – will all go to Ukraine.
Myself, (ex-Army) and Blake Morgan (ex-RAF) are coordinating this from Hungerford and we have been working very closely with the Reading Ukrainian Community Centre – https://rucc.uk – and Eliska Vyskoc from Lambourn.
You can help.
We need funds! Now that we have a simple, but good plan, we need to finance the following as well as the supplies we are taking:
Urgent Medical & Personal Supplies - £7,500+
Van hire – long wheelbase – for a week to 10 days - £500
Channel Crossing - £250
Diesel for the van - £550
Road Tolls – £200
Food & Miscellaneous - £200
Please contribute in any way you can and we need funds quickly. The medical equipment is arriving early next week and we are looking at going as soon as possible thereafter.
Richard Curtis has kindly volunteered to get the ball rolling by letting us use his own charity account and £200! Thank you so much Richard. And Andrew Fisher, also from Hungerford, will be making sure all monies are accounted for. We will be logging all payments and publishing a full set of accounts, along with receipts. Andrew is a Civil Service accountant, so he should be able to keep us on the straight and narrow. Thanks Andrew!
Any money left over will go to the UNHCR Ukraine as well as registered Ukrainian and Polish charities. Again at the end of the trip, we will be publishing all the contributions and accounting details.
To donate, contact me, Simon Howe. 07809 66 88 32. I will let you know the Account Number and Sort Code and you can directly make a direct bank transfer. Alternatively, you are welcome to drop in and see me at home - DM for drop off details.
Blake, myself, Eliska and the team would like to thank you in advance for any help you can give. We want to make this appeal and aid trip a very local effort, a simple and small helping hand from the people of Hungerford and Lambourn to the people of Ukraine.

2 years ago10. And of course, I need to thank all of you, Hungerford and the surrounding area, many from my former regiment, 1 DERR, our fantastic butcher, Christian Alba, who donated some great burgers and sausages for Andy D’s team and many more people. We did this second run over the long Easter weekend with the aim of this being our final trip. We still have some funds left and will buy whatever Andy D believes is really needed. Eli tells me that she urgently needs another driver. Well I guess there is another Bank Holiday Monday coming up…

2 years ago9. And so I must thank the tireless and completely fantastic Eliska from Lamborne for all her organisation, direction, for pulling together many of the donations and Mick who is one of the leaders of the Ukrainian community centre in Reading. Thank you to Priscilla for ‘volunteering’ me to go on the first run with Blake, to Rich and to Andrew Fisher who not only does all the accounting but was amazing at finding us accommodation when we are on the road. I need to again thank my company, Freyr for being so supportive and incredibly generous.

2 years ago8. Some of these pictures below show Rich and myself helping to load Andy’s van – an ex-UK ambulance – and then us at the Uzhhorod border crossing where the Red Cross kingly gave us a cup of tea. I don’t mind admitting that the final pictures brought tears to myself and Rich on the Ferry on the way home. They show some of the very brave people at the respite centre using the Hungerford washing machines and saying thanks for the aid. I just wish I had a bigger van.
