    Story

Humanitarian crisis of over a million Rohingya people; being forced from there home towns and live in crowded, unsanitary camps where some were held for ransom by smugglers or subjected to physical or sexual abuse. These people face restrictions on freedom of movement that limit their access to livelihoods, healthcare, food, clothes, education, protection of this basic services, and severe physical abuse, torture and killings of innocent which you will have surely seen; making them heavily dependant on humanitarian assistance and emergency aid.

On the 25th August 2017, deadly clashes erupt in Myanmar. At least 77 Rohingyan Muslims and 12 security forces reported killed in the Rakhine State of Myanmar and caused more than 8375 Rohingyan Muslims to flee to Bangladesh (recorded by UN). The fact is now there are close to 100,000 people that have fled for their lives to Bangladesh.

Global Appeal are working alongside PKPU Human Initiative in Myanmar whom have been providing support to these people and running since 2012. Currently they have an ongoing projects operating a clinic in Shi The Ma GYi Camp that served 100 patients every day. WASH program also included in the program which consisted of constructing 50 Hand Pumps and 10 Communal Toilets. PKPU have finished the construction of 2 Schools in 2 different Villages in Sittwe.

The main objective of the program is to support the Rohingya Refugees in Cox's Bazaar and surrounding villages and meet their basic needs by the distributing of food. Alongside the Food package distribution, we will also be building temporary shelters for the Rohingyan Refugees in Cox's Bazaar, Bangladesh.

I will be partaking in a number of fundraising activities with my friends and family to support this crisis and will be travelling to Bangladesh at the end of October 2017 to see the work being carried out first hand and ensure your donation reaches its cause. We will ensure 100% of your donation goes directly to the cause despite any deductions from just giving.
