    Story

Mo needs your help. She was diagnosed with terminal cancer. She had saved money for her funeral and for making happy memories of days out for her 10 year old grandson Calum, who she has custody of. This money was stolen. Can you imagine fretting about not being able to cover your own funeral, whilst living day to day with an illness, which in itself is extremely difficult. Please, if you can help in any way, it would be fantastic. Read Mo's words below.

My grandson Calum was born in 2006 and is the light of my life. His parents were not good ones, both are heavy drug users, Calum being neglected as a result. I took steps to get Calum away from them, it took almost 7 yrs, due to lies and withholding information by his parents from the authorities. Eventually, Calum was assigned a brilliant social worker who totally took our side and realised Calum was at risk. He went out of his way to ensure Calum's safety. He strongly advised Calum's parents to let him stay with me, on the understanding that their drug use be monitored and they get clean. Their behaviour got worse though, so I went to court and was awarded special guardianship after a further 2 yrs. Calum was very unsettled and insecure at first. I couldn't leave a room without him, he couldn't sleep, was very clingy. I changed his school due to him being bullied and he couldn't take to anyone or make friends. Eventually, with lots of support, he became very popular, now everyone loves him. I worked full time and we had a good life.

I became ill and was diagnosed with terminal cancer., a huge blow to us both, we are still trying to come to terms with it. His parents decided they wanted contact and Calum hoped to build a new relationship with them but they were only out for what they could get, sadly. They stole lots of Calum's things and the money I'd saved to take him on days out to make memories and for my funeral. I've never asked for anything before in my life but I don't know what to do.
