    Story

My name is Jack and I'm a current player and ambassador for Wales Deaf Rugby Union, and have had the pleasure of being part of this group for the best part of 4 years.

I am writing to you to offer you the opportunity to be a part of history and support our visit to Australia in April 2018 for the 7’s Deaf World Cup and a test fixture against the hosts.

Unfortunately for us, we don’t receive financial backing from the Welsh Rugby Union and therefore we are a registered charity. We play for the love of the game and all expenses come from our own pocket’s with extra help from sponsorships. I seek to gain financial sponsorship to enable me to travel with the squad to Australia and utilise any financial backing to pay for sportswear, accommodation, and flights.

In 2002, Wales secured the inaugural Deaf Rugby World Championships by defeating hosts and favourites New Zealand in the final held at Eden Park, Auckland. Since then, the team has progressed to play regular international matches both home and away. The team has also played New Zealand, Japan and France.

Two years ago we were invited to South Africa for the first time to play in a two test series in Pretoria over 10 days, both of which we won comfortably.

The World Deaf Rugby 7’s competition is the first major World Deaf Rugby event for more than fifteen years, and will be the biggest Deaf Rugby competition the world has seen. International, Australian State/Territory and combined rugby 7’s teams will be competing in the event, including our International Test against Australia. Alongside ourselves and the hosts, the teams competing are Japan, New Zealand, South Africa, England, Argentina, Fiji, Samoa and Kenya.

I will be incredibly grateful for any donations, I assure you they will go a long way.

If your business may be interested in sponsoring myself or the whole Welsh team, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thank you so much in advance.

    Kind regards,

    Jack Tugwell
