Dear Lovely friends and family and fellow custodians-of-the-earth,

My son, Jacob (9) is trying to raise money for a charity, dedicated to helping save an ancient rainforest bird, The Cassowary, after learning about them for a school project. Jacob doesn't really remember but we were also incredibly lucky to see one in the wild in the Daintree Rainforest, on our trip to Australia, when he was just 4 years old. This bird is as tall as a grown man, as old as the dinosaurs, is the only bird that can spread huge seeds from 70 species of rainforest tree AND there are only 1000 left!!

In order to raise money, Jacob has organised a cupcake and lemonade stall next week, is making notecards to sell and is running 5 km at a Park Run.

I don't know about you, but I think it is a great cause and I also love the fact that a 9 year old boy in Kent feels connected with, and concerned about, an animal living on the other side of the world. Doesn't our world need more of that?
