Story
So here I am once again! This time I am taking to the big one... Mt. Everest!! No big summits this time but Base Camp and to Kala Patthar its an impressive 5545 metres above sea level. The trek will take me 12 days covering a distance of 130km. I will be travelling on the 28th September 2017.
I would like to thank everyone that supported my fundraising trek to Mt. Kilimanjaro last year.
FUNDRAISING
The deteriorating situation for the Rohingya in Burma and the refugees in Bangladesh has pushed me to launch my fundraising efforts. The Rohingya people are the FORGOTTEN minority in Burma, as some of you may be aware the situation is at crisis level in Burma and is receiving very little News coverage. Hundreds of thousands of Rohingya people are fleeing their country on foot and by boat risking their lives to get to safety with their families. The minority population of at least 1.3 million are being driven off their lands and confined to camps in the Cox's Bazaar region of Bangladesh, many without shelter, food, medical care, education, the right to work or other basic human rights. Once thought to number more than 3 million, this abused and persecuted minority group has been killed, raped, burned alive until their mere existence has vanished. They need our help, our prayers and our charity to survive.
My cousin lives and works in Bangladesh, he is a dedicated founding member of a charity called Iqra Social Welfare Group currently on the ground providing support to the displaced in Cox's Bazaar in Bangladesh. I will be collecting the money and personally sending it over for this cause. Last update I have is that the situation is dire and in desperate need of funds.
Your support for this challenge would be amazing and knowing you're all behind me will help me get to Everest Base camp and onto Kala Pattar and survive and overcome my weakness - the altitude sickness! So please dig as deep as you can.
Thank you for taking the time to read this page.
