I am going to be running the 2017 Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc (UTMB).

This race takes place in August 2017 and is a 1 stage ultramarathon race covering 170km over the Alps. The race spans 3 countries starting in Chamonix France travelling through Italy and Switzerland to arrive back in France.

The UTMB includes over 10,000m of cumulative ascent (the equivalent of climbing to Everest and down again) and must be completed within the 46hours time limit.

I attempted this race in 2015 but unfortunately did not complete but this year I am even more determined to complete this race.

To make my attempt more meaningful I have decided to raise money for Association Liziba Suisse who are a great charity connected to the UTMB which provides drinking water to African countries. The aim is to raise a total of £1800

Association Liziba's priorities for 2017 include;

1. To train new people in order to increase the knowledge and skills of our local partners in different fields;

2. Sanitize three other natural sources and bring extra tanks;

3. Develop an educational project in the agricultural area. This is to teach people to cultivate more intensive and ecologically

4. Raising more widely and deeply the population in terms of bodily hygiene and proper behavior to observe the sources and with the help the local hospital and health authorities.
