My 10 year old nephew Youzhen Xu who is living in China has been ill and treated in hospital since 17/12/2017. On 9/02/2018 the doctor told us devastating news, he was diagnosed with cancer. He has 3 large tumours in his abdomen called neuroblastoma and he is at stage 4 which is very advanced. The tumour cells have spread to his spine. The only chance for him is chemotherapy and an operation to remove the tumours as soon as possible to save his life.

My brother has spent all his savings and borrowed what he could to get his son to this point in the diagnosis but now there is a further £60,000 in treatment costs to be raised.

The doctors even suggested that perhaps they should plan to have another child! They understood this to be a veiled way of saying that they doubted they could ever afford to pay the fees. I cannot imagine how awful that must have felt for them. Rather than relinquishing hope and sitting idly by while watching their son slowly deteriorating they reached out to me for help. Youzhen is an innocent child and fully dependent on his parents, he doesn't know how serious his condition is and is still smiling. No parent can give up on their child especially when they are most vulnerable and most in need of their help. This is the motivation that led me to starting this fundraising page.

My brother and his wife are farmers who have lived in rural China all of their lives. Youzhen is only a ten year old should be looking forward to a whole life ahead of him. He should be at school with his friends not in hospital fighting for his life. Your donation could make all the difference for him and his family by helping to pay toward his life saving operation.
