Jay and Matt Conway have been given the opportunity to box in Slovakia and Ireland this year, representing their boxing club Birtley. Jay is 14 and matt is 10. They both train 6 days a week and are extremely dedicated to their sport. Jay is north east champion 2 years running, hopefully next month it will be 3 times and with his skill, commitment and a tiny pinch of luck he will win the national title he has so narrowly missed out on previously. Jay has boxed for 5 years. Matt is following in his big brothers footsteps and is showing great promise of being a talented and technically good boxer. Matt has boxed for 2 years and currently has had 2 skills bouts which he thoroughly enjoyed, he is not yet old enough to box competitively but is gaining valuable ring experience.
Having the opportunity to box internationally is massive to them both, it will be a huge experience and they would love to go and fly the flag for their club. Birtley boxing club is a charity run club so we need to try and raise the funds to get these boys out doing what they love ourselves. This is a huge task but one that will give two very talented boxers an amazing opportunity. Every penny we manage to raise will get them one step closer to their target and dreams.
