We are working at the Jaynii streetwise foundation in Jamestown, Accra, Ghana. It currently exists as a centre providing shelter, food and education for children who would otherwise have none of these. The community surrounding the centre is the poorest area in Accra and there is also a huge amount of rubbish causing it to be very dirty and unsafe for children.

We are here to give the children a music education in the hope that this will result in a Jaynii music band which, through performances can provide the centre with a sustainable income. Through the skills developed in music teaching they will also benefit from a sense of belonging, confidence and direction. We are also teaching the couple that run the centre so that they can continue and develop our work in the future.

We also have a vision to use some of the rubbish in the area such as old tyres and wood to create a playground in the Jaynii centre for the children to play in; hopefully teaching the community about the value of recycling at the same time.

In order to make this as successful as we would like, we are asking for donations to purchase instruments, music books and resources for the playgrounds such as tools and paint.
