Story
Hi, I'm a second year student child nurse at the university of cumbria.
To complete our second year, we must do a two week elective placement in a destination of our choice. I have chosen to travel to Pokhara in Nepal to experience healthcare in a completely different environment.
Nepal has a higher disease prevalence than other south Asian countries and healthcare is both provided by the public and private sector. Millions of people are at risk of infection and thousands die every year due to communicable diseases, malnutrition and other health-related events which particularly affect the poor living in rural areas. Life expectancy in Nepal is 67, as opposed to the UK which is 81.
I feel that experiencing such a different standard of healthcare will allow me to grow professionally and allow me to gain skills and experience that are unobtainable in our country due to our amazing national health care service.
The amount I aspire to raise will provide me with flights, safe accommodation, food and the ability to access the hospital. I would also like to raise more than this amount to provide much needed equipment to the hospital.
I will be working as a part of the team within a local hospital. I will be working 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.
I will be using this page you keep up to date with my fundraising events and to keep a track on how much has been raised.
For more information please contact myself or look on the work the world website (the company who will be organising my nursing experience) at:

Thank you 😊😊
