Story
Novi Survat is a children's charity providing education for children of the slums within Goa India and has been running since 2004. From the 29th of January to the 13th of February, myself and 15 others will travel to Goa in order to work with the street children who are receiving the opportunity of an education from Reception to College all thanks to the funds that have been raised by the charity.
During the 15 day duration of my stay, as well as teaching the children within the preschool basic Maths and Literacy skills, we will be giving the children the opportunity to play and receive a full meal provided by the charity and decorate their school that has suffered water damaged from Monsoons. Along with working with the street children, we will be working within a HIV Orphanage along with a Special Needs Centre, to provide help for children with Cerebral Palsy and other conditions and fund for new equipment that they are in great need of.
The young children that are not yet receiving an education, will either be working or begging on the streets by the age of four, and for the young girls on the streets they will be married by thirteen which is not the life that any children deserve, especially those who are already facing a life of poverty and hunger.
Thank you for taking the time to read the story of my upcoming trip, as well as Novi Survat's story. Any donations are welcomed and appreciated! All proceeds raised go directly to the charity.
