My name is Jennie Hewitt, 60 years old, a retired art teacher, mother of three young adults and grandmother to Solomon who is 2. I feel very troubled as I look to the future for my children and children’s children and wish to do something to mark my sorrow and indignation about the Emergency of Climate Change that we are all facing.

Walking seems appropriate. It’s a pilgrimage really. A lament for what we are doing as a species. Raising money too I hope.

This is only possible because my husband Andrew will be’ holding the fort’ here at Shenmore. He feels it is important for us to offer this and would wish to walk with me if it were possible.

A few years back I undertook to walk a route of Camino de Santiago in Spain. I walked the Primitivo (369km). It was a wonderful experience and hopefully my body will not have forgotten that the stamina is there somewhere!

The journey will begin when I leave Small Lane in Bristol on a Thursday having looked after Solomon as I usually do on the Wednesday. The advent of the next generation lights a fire in our hearts as grandparents and this journey is for Solomon and for those that follow.
