Story
Some of you will know that a couple of days ago my sister noticed her collie lame after a relatively short walk, she was showing signs of not wanting to use her back legs when walking so my sister took her the local vet. They gave her painkillers and told her to come back today (Friday) afternoon. During the evening on Thursday, early hours on Friday - it became apparent that Echo was unable to move her back legs (she had suddenly become paralysed), my sister thinks this may have happened when she tried to go to the toiler, however she is unsure..
As Echo deteriorated Kat took her to the emergency vets who then assessed her and sent her to the Regional Vet Hospital. Here she will receive an MRI and possible surgery.
It is a very difficult time for my sister and she has asked me request that no messages go to her asking about/for Echo at this time. I will try to keep you up to date at I find out more information. I'm sure you will all appreciate that this is simply because it is too hard for her to hear well wishes, to say she is heartbroken at the minute is an understatement. Everyone who knows Echo will know what a fun loving and beautiful dog she is, many of you have one of her beautiful puppies - and the love that this dog has given my sister over she past years has been profound.
My sisters only focus right now is getting Echo better, rightly so. And as her sister, I will do anything I can to support that. Whilst my sister isn't currently even thinking of the associated costs from medical tests, I am discreetly aware how expensive tests at the Vet School are. If you are able and willing to provide financial support for these tests - it would be greatly appreciated by myself (and I'm sure my sister in due course, when she finds out). We have tentatively been given a "worst case scenario" figure of £7,000 in treatment costs. The initial Consultation, MRI and Surgery will be around £4,500
Most importantly, please keep Echo in our thoughts for the next while. If you want an update please feel free to message me and ill explain all I know however for the time being - allow Kat the space to be there for her dog, without distraction.

7 years agoAn update from Kat ..... I never thought I'd say the words "My dog did a big, beautiful wee this morning!" but, after a day yesterday of getting the support harness on all wrong (making weeing etc very difficult for her!) and feeling generally stressed about everything, I am literally ecstatic that as soon as she walked out of the door this morning she had a quick sniff, did a beautiful squat and a very controlled wee :D ALL OVER MY BOOTS AND I DON'T EVEN CARE! They'll wash ;)
