Let me tell you about Laura..... a remarkable woman, with strength that many of us couldn't ever comprehend. A woman fighting a battle that is everyone's worst nightmare and yet the courage she shows daily is simply incredible.
Laura discovered she has small cell lung cancer only a few months ago in November 2016 after a few trips to the GP when she developed a cough. What she thought was a collapsed lung turned out to be a tumour in her lung and liver with damage that was beyond repair.
Laura has undergone chemotherapy and more recently radiotherapy and fights everyday to remain as normal as possible for her family.
She is 35 years old. She is a wife and a mother of four beautiful children and she is a dear friend to many of us.
The community of Nairn has helped raise an amazing amount of money so far and shown support that you would only find in such a small town and everyone is devastated by her diagnosis of terminal cancer.
Laura however remains the ray of sunshine among us and insists normality is essential for her children.
The MacMillan nurses have played a huge part in supporting her through these last few months and there just aren't enough words to say thank you to them.
The final thing friends and family wish to do is raise some funds for the Young family to have a break away from the norm, to be together and make those precious memories without everyday interruptions. Laura would like donations to be given to the MacMillan nurses so, the compromise is, whatever is raised is split 50/50.
