My nephew, Little Louie - as he's affectionately known in the family - was born at 25 weeks, weighing just 1lb 7oz in Rotherham Hospital last July.

He then spent 3 weeks on the Jessop Wing of Sheffield Hospital, before being transferred back to the Special Care Baby Unit at Rotherham Hospital for 3 months, eventually being allowed home.

You'll be pleased to know he's now a very healthy, dribbly baby. :-D

The staff at both hospitals were outstanding, but at Rotherham especially so, and it's for this great cause I'd like to raise a small amount as a token of my appreciation for the support they provided to my extended family.

I'm taking part in a closed road sportive, the Prudential RideLondon - Surrey 100.

As many of you know me, it's something I've done before, so I know the challenge it holds very well, but it's still something of a feat of endurance and a worthy event to use for raising sponsorship for this great cause.

I'd like to start the bar relatively high at £500 and I hope you can help me get there.
