Story
I have only known Andy & Allexia for 2 years but in that short time I have realised that they are the hardest working couple I know. In September this year their world fell apart when Andy was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. His is 41. His two beautiful children are only 3 and 5. The prognosis is not good, its terminal. Like a typical bloke Andy has actually been suffering symptoms for 2 years now but keeping quiet & soldiering on running his own IT business, so a lot of time has already been lost. Now he has had to give up his business as he has been left physically unable to carry on. He has lost 11 years of hard work, and been left with no income at all to support his young family. On the plus side it is the first time Andy has had a break from work so now at least he can appreciate the time he has left.
At the same time as running their own business and bringing up a young family Andy and Allexia have spent the last 12 years renovating their house to make it into the family home they dreamed of. Andy is a perfectionist and due to finances has done much of the work himself. Sadly they have realised that Andy's rapidly declining health will mean that unless they can convert their garage into a bedroom & wet room for him, he will not be able to remain at home until the end. Creating this space for Andy is the difference between him being a part of the kids lives for as long as he can or having to be taken away early. Andy doesn't deserve that. He doesn't deserve any of this. He's worked so hard always believing that you get out what you put in. He and Allexia have never asked for anything EVER. They hate the fact I have set up this page, they are proud people but life has dealt them the most awful hand and I simply can't sit by and watch this beautiful family go through such heartbreak and do nothing. Please help us build a room for Andy so he can be with his kids for as long as possible. The default limit is £200 as I'm hoping to raise as much as possible.

7 years agoDear All I'm sorry its been so long since we updated you all. I am pleased to say that the builders have now started work at Andy and Allexias home. We are still £7,000 short of the full cost of the conversion, so if anyone knows of any builders merchants who might be willing to donate materials etc we would love to know!! Andy is now back at home and recovering well after a bout of pneumonia. Thank you once again from all of us for your amazing support. There is still 5 days left to run on the page so do share it with people :)
