Iʼve raised £940 to support Jimmy in achieving his goal to cross the Channel in a boat made almost entirely of Beer Cans to raise awareness about Alcoholism.

Story
Jimmy's Beer Boat
My name is Jimmy Whittle, I'm an ex alcoholic and I almost didn't make it.
(I'm one of the lucky ones).
Thanks to the amazing people I know I was able to self-rescue (terminology in kayaking for when you can pull yourself out of the drink and back into the boat). My friends were there when I needed them most and also the staff at the drug/alcohol services on the Isle of Man. It's thanks to these people I'm still here and recovering.
Unfortunately, our health services are massively under-funded, under-resourced and under duress... I have observed this first-hand. These people can only do so much and they need more help to save more lives.
I want to give something back and if you know me, you'll already know I could be described as "a bit crazy", so I needed to do something completely different and off the wall to promote responsible drinking and help raise much needed funds for our health services.
So what's this crazy idea.....?
Well, I'm building a boat out of all the empty beer cans and vodka bottles that nearly killed me... With the aim to row it across the English Channel. How crazy is that? I don't think it's that crazy 😂 but what a great way to raise awareness and hopefully raise much needed funds for our health services to help support people when it all goes wrong.
Don't worry, the boat will be seaworthy and all the necessary health and safety precautions will be in place, "as best they can out of beer tins anyway...!"
However, all this costs money and so far, I've been funding the challenge out of my own pocket, (or more precisely my credit card coz the pockets are empty 😂) I haven't got the money so PLEASE help me fund the boat by making a donation, it really is that simple.
Any excess money donated will be added to the other funds raised to help support the drug and alcohol services.

I hope you do really well and don't get bitten by a shark, dragged down to the sea floor and left there to drown. I DO NOT hope that happens.
