Story
We are challenging ourselves by taking part in the Cardiff Velothon on 8 July 2018 for this very worthy cause. We will be cycling the 140km (88 miles) route around Cardiff, Newport and Caerphilly. This is the longest ride we will have done in 1 day and also includes some killer hills towards the end! Wish us luck!
The Paul Ridd Foundation (http://paulriddfoundation.org/) was established by the brother and sister of Paul Ridd, Jayne Nicholls and Jonathan Ridd, following the avoidable death of Paul in 2009 in hospital. Paul's Story http://paulriddfoundation.org/pauls-story/.
The Foundation's vision is to improve the healthcare of people with a learning disability in primary and secondary care. The Foundation has been instrumental in supporting the development of the Secondary Care Pathway for People with Learning Disabilities, the Learning Disability Care Bundle and its tools. They have developed the Learning Disability Logo and work tirelessly for this to be used and recognised across the UK. The Foundation is continually campaigning for the adoption of these initiatives, the appointment of Learning Disability Liaison Nurses and Learning Disability Champions in each hospital across Wales. The Paul Ridd Foundation supported the creation of two Learning Disability Liaison Nurse posts in ABMU Health Board in July 2016.
