As you all know I've decided to put myself in the ring for a charity boxing event on the 7th October.
In 2013 my dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer. With the help of some amazing medical professionals he made a full recovery but not everyone can be so lucky.
Prostate cancer can develop when cells in the prostate start to grow in an uncontrolled way. Prostate cancer often grows slowly to start with and may never cause any problems. But some men have prostate cancer that is more likely to spread. This needs treatment to stop it spreading outside the prostate.
There were around 11,300 prostate cancer deaths in the UK in 2014, that’s 31 deaths every day.
Prostate cancer is the fourth most common cause of cancer death in the UK (2014).
Prostate cancer accounts for 13% of all cancer deaths in males in the UK (2014).
In males in the UK, prostate cancer is the second most common cause of cancer death, with around 11,300 deaths in 2014.
