On the 17th July this year Jonathan had been mountain biking in the Swiss Alps.

It was a normal day on his biking adventures when he went out over a jump on his bike following lunch and came off over the front of his bike landing head first.

The impact of the fall left Jonathan with immediate loss of feeling from the chest down.

He was airlifted to Lausanne University hospital in Switzerland were neurosurgeons were able to confirm a dislocation to his C6 & 7 vertebrae alongside a compressed spinal cord. Immediately Jonathan was rushed for 8 hours of spinal surgery to stabilise his spinal column & prevent further damage.

Jonathan spent two weeks in Lausannes ICU unit were he recovered from spinal shock following a spinal cord injury; allowing for his wound to heal.

Soon after Jonathan returned to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast via air ambulance and was prepped for his place in rehabilitation. A week later he was taken to Musgrave Spinal Unit were he remains today under intense rehabilitation.

Having been diagnosed with a C6/7 spinal cord injury Jonathan's aim is to overcome this as best he can and eventually walk again.

We aim to fundraise & help direct Jonathan towards intense physio treatment he will need once he leaves Musgrave Spinal Unit.

Ideally Jonathan will need physio that enables the use of an eksoskelton to stimulate dormant muscles. We aim to be able to send Jonathan to Project Walk America were he can commit to intense physiotherapy plans allowing him to succeed on his road to recovery.

It is currently Week 18 post surgery for Jonathan and every little post/ comment/ sign of support will help him along on his journey ahead.
