Askern Welfare Cricket Club is a recreational cricket club which is at the heart of the community in a small ex mining village in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Providing cricket and a place to socialise for over 110 years we are currently competing in Pontefract & District Cricket League in which we were premier league champions in 2022.

We are aiming at raising funds for our club and using the other half of the money as a donation to Andy’s Man Club which prioritises men’s mental health giving them a safe space to express their feelings and emotions.

To do this numerous club members are partaking in a sponsored walk and working to complete The Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge on 2nd March. 24 miles of walking to complete summits of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. Around 10 members will be aiming to complete this and try to highlight the Club and outstanding work being done by Andy’s Man Club.

Any donations and/or support are welcome to the lads as they aim to do this. The funds raised will be used to pay for equipment and training aswell as running costs for the year, mainly this will be used for the rejuvenation of our Junior section in which we have 2 youth teams (Under 11’s and 13’s) who are desperately in need of support from our community to get them into cricket.
