    Story

When asked, a woman or a teenage girl would almost never say they are happy with the way they look. We always want to change something in the way we look, different shape, different size, different proportions. We are constantly looking to improve, we follow the latest fashion and make-up trends, endless diets, drastic exercise regimes... and it’s never enough. And with social media we get even more scrutiny and pressure to look perfect!

Body dissatisfaction is a global epidemic now and the statistics are really terrifying:

9 out of 10 teenage girls are unhappy with their bodies; 1 in 4 people in the UK are depressed about their bodies; 8 is the average age when girls start dieting in the UK.

This is something that is really close to my heart. When growing up, I struggled with accepting the shape and the size of my body. Even now, older and wiser, I still find it hard to accept the way it is, and with social media there is even more pressure to look perfect.

So I am raising £300 to buy the license to organise a screening of the amazing documentary “Embrace”, in order to help every women and girl to love and accept our bodies. But there is more to it:

Embrace: The Union Project is a campaign seeking to find 2,000 people to host a screening of Embrace, the social impact documentary that explores the serious issue of body image. When we accomplish this mission, the Body Image Movement will make the Embrace Education Study Guide accessible to all UK secondary schools for FREE! This resource inspires life-changing body image conversations in the classroom.

Not loving and accepting our bodies has a huge impact on our confidence, self- esteem and self-worth. And the issue doesn’t only concern women anymore, men are more and more under pressure to have a perfect body and a perfect life.

So please help me raise funds for this amazing cause! If I manage to raise more than the cost of the licence and screening, all profits will support Beat - The UK’s Eating Disorder Charity:

Let’s create a better future for our children, and more happiness for our girlfriends, wives and families! Please support!

Thank you so much! Love, Justyna xx
