Grier & Cammy are climbing Mount Kilimanjaro on the 14th of January to raise money for a charity close to Grier’s heart The Kris Boyd Charity (charity number 1110538) This charity was set up by Kris after his young brother Scott sadly ended his own life in September 2016. The reason the charity is to educate people and get people to engage with others when they are in need of help instead of dismissing them or brushing of feelings as being weak. The charity hope that in time, society can speak openly when they have issues, it’s about them knowing there will be someone there for them who will show decency and a level of understanding. With young people today mental health is being an ever prevelent issue, due to teenagers being so focused on their phons and social media instead of being active and socialising with others. This also leads to bullying as well as unrealistic beauty standards which add mounting pressure on young people, and can lead to mental health.

Grier and Cammy both work at Buckley’s cafe bistro in Prestwick and came up with the idea to do the climb and raise money for the charity, they both are currently busy between work and training as the hard work has yet to come. Grier and Cammy are funding the trip so all of the money raised is going to the charity. As most of you know Grier is married to Kris’s sister so this is why the charity is so close to his heart.
