So, I am a Mum of 2 beautiful children Teagan aged 10 and Ewan aged 9. Teagan was diagnosed DYSPRAXIA some years ago and with AUTISM December 2016. Ewan has AUDITORY PROCESSING DIFFICULTIES and suffers with ANXIETY.

Both of my children have attempted to attend 'mainstream' activity clubs and groups, which turned out to be a disaster for everyone we tried.

YOUR SPACE however allows Teagan and Ewan and other young people with similar conditions to attend activity groups and sessions with no judgement, all the support and encouragement they need.

YOUR SPACE is an amazing non profit charity, that provides activity sessions and social clubs to children and young adults with AUTISM or a RELATED CONDITION. Even though based in Wrexham, they accept young people from further afield. They do not require a formal diagnosis. They understand that this is a very lengthy process often taking several years, but also that some families may not wish to take the route of a formal diagnosis. Their only requirements are that your child appears to be experiencing difficulties that those affected by AUTISM usually experience, and that you can travel to the sessions you wish to attend.

Recently funding for some of the sessions came to an end, unfortunately this meant that some regular sessions are not able to run until further funds are sourced. Family Swim Night, Climbing Wall, Ball Skills/Football and Sports hall sessions are the ones that are currently affected.

YOUR SPACE are working tirelessly to secure further funding for future sessions.

In the mean time I wanted to do what I could to raise some money towards running at least one session.

My body is not capable of running a marathon or fun run, so instead I had this very crazy idea to sign myself up for this years Rhyl Sea Dip. This is usually on Boxing Day, but this year it is on New Years Eve.

To be brutally honest, I have had my doubts, I have considered pulling out on more than a few occasions. I HATE the sand, and am petrified of Seaweed, crabs... well actually pretty much all sea life..

Howevever, this is NOT an option...

Ewan, my very brave and equally crazy little boy, has insisted he wants to take the challenge too! He wants to raise money for YOUR SPACE too. Then the sponsorship's started rolling in.. so basically.. yeah.. I'm facing my my fears..

KAREN AND EWAN WILLIAMS WILL BE PLUNGING INTO RHYLS ICY SEA ON 31ST DECEMBER 2017 AT 10.30AM, HAVING A GOOD OLD SPLASH, AND PRAYING WE DON'T LOOSE ANY LIMBS.
