    Story

As many of you are aware we
couldn't have come closer to SEPSIS changing our lives for ever earlier this year. Luckily thanks to numerous ABMU staff and awful lot of luck Jeremy is still here and life is slowly getting back to normal.

To show our thanks and further raise awareness of SEPSIS the 4 of us are going to walk this 6k route and would really appreciate any donation you can give no matter how little.

Any money raised will be donated to:

SeGMED (Sepsis Group Morriston Emergency Department) via ABMU Charitable Funds which has brought the first sepsis 6k run to Wales.

Sepsis, a silent killer, is a cause of significant mortality and morbidity. A lot of the patients develop sepsis secondary to infection from various causes. Early identification and appropriate treatment is the key in preventing deterioration.

The interventions are very basic and simple which are grouped together as the "Sepsis Six" - oxygen, blood cultures, antibiotics, fluids, lactate and haemoglobin and urine output monitoring.

Morriston Emergency Department (ED) embarked on a sepsis awareness campaign in ED in 2015 to promote early identification of sepsis using their sepsis screening tool in a busy Emergency Department. Since then they have grown and are currently involved in raising awareness amongst all hospital staff in Morriston Hospital along with the Sepsis Team. SeGMED group have successfully organised three Sepsis Awareness days as "drop in" sessions which have been very well received.

Their motto is "To inspire, educate and promote early recognition, treatment and management of sepsis".

The money raised will go to Morriston Emergency Department and will be used for education, equipment and supporting further sepsis awareness campaign and events in hospital and in the community.
