Weʼve raised £383 to support JPC Community Farm

    Middlesbrough, UK
Funded on Sunday, 14th October 2018

    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

On 7th July 2018 I will take on the Pennine 39 Ultra Marathon. A 36 mile course which follows the Pennine Way from Low Force to Alston, climbing over 4,000ft. I have chosen to take on this challenge to raise funds for JPC Community Farm, a special project in Stokesley, which aims to provide a lifeline of care for young people and adults living with live limiting conditions.

The farm has been founded by Paul & Julie Connaughton and will not only support their disabled son James, but also dozens of others living with disabilities. The James Paul Connaughton Community Farm will provide a 5-star (Outstanding) supported living environment for those with additional needs and will promote an interactive, community engaged lifestyle for the residents.

There will be supported living for up to 18 adults with special or complex needs at JPC Community Farm. It will initially offer 15 apartments and a three-bed shared living house, with space for future development.

Other plans for the development include a specially-adapted outdoor play area with wheelchair swings, zip wire and exercise equipment; a small petting farm, wheelchair basketball court and trampolines.

I was first introduced to Paul and Julie Connaughton last summer, and I was so inspired by their story I wanted to do my little bit to support their phenomenal efforts.

I'm Katie, a mad runner (well at least I have been for the past 6.5 months!). I've been training for the Pennine 39 Ultra marathon in July, my first attempt of an ultra distance event which I am completing to raise vital funds for JPC Community Farm.
