I am thoroughly excited and extremely honoured to be a member of the 2017 team, through Camps International that will be travelling to Ecuador for a month this summer! The trip will include many different forms of voluntary work, so I'll give you a brief overview of what the trip will consist of!

We will mainly be working within two different Camps, Camp Amazonia and Camp Kuri Kucho. The first week will mainly be focused around the local primary schools, improving infrastructure which will create a safe place for the children to learn and feel comfortable and safe. :)
When we will be based in Camp Kuri Kucho, we will be working and learning alongside the local people, doing our best to help retain their culture and heritage. As a welshwoman, I believe retaining such things is evident within any community, especially within rural areas such as this particular Andean community!
In between these Camps we will be experiencing the beauty and picturesque sights of the location, trying local foods, seeing the sights and interacting with the locals.
As well as this we will be helping the nature conservation in Ecuador. As the Amazon rainforest is one of the most endangered yet important regions in the world, we will be establishing and maintaining an ethnobotanical garden and tree nursery for the community that can be used for reforestation and preserving cultural medicinal knowledge. This will include tree planting, maintenance and general construction.

There it is - that's my 'story,' and that's what (very briefly) the trip will consist of. A mixture of helping wildlife, children, elders and the community.

I would appreciate and be extremely thankful of ANY type of contribution if you are in a stable financial situation, be it big or small; as cheesy as it sounds every little really does help towards a trip such as this! I hope you can sense how excited i am to be a part of this trip, I cannot wait to get stuck in!
