My husband, two little girls and I moved to Burnham from Romford last year. Living in Romford we had a great deal of emergency care right on our doorstep 24 hours a day.

Now we're in Burnham we are more aware of how far it is to the nearest A&E and that's why my husband, Neil, has become a Community First Responder for the East of England Ambulance Service. If we can help our community in their hour of need then that's what we'll do.

But this is where we need your help too. The Community First Responders are volunteers many of whom, including my husband, work full time and give up their spare time to respond to emergency calls when a paramedic or ambulance can't get to the person quickly enough. They are a charity and therefore rely on the generosity of the public to help fund their equipment. Please give generously, who knows when you might need their help!
