    Story

So I decided to climb a mountain, the last time I did that was 20 years ago when I went camping with friends in the Lake District after my GSCEs. But when I saw that One Fit Mama were again doing their sponsored hike to help mums with post natal depression I had to be involved.

This is a cause that is close to my heart. I struggled and continue to be affected with post-natal depression following the birth of my second daughter, Sienna. Like many mums I knew something was wrong but did not seek help until Sienna was a year old. Even when I did speak out, the help I received (mainly medication) was not exactly helpful.

The support that One Fit Mama give by providing counselling, haircuts, free classes and other holistic support go a long way to help mums who have struggled. Sometimes my One Fit Mama classes were the only time I left the house other than for childcare. That 45 minutes of just getting active and doing something was the first step (of many) to help me out of the hole I got myself in.

Nearly 3 years on I still struggle with the impact that postnatal depression had on me so when I saw this, it felt like the perfect time and challenge to climb a little bit more out of that hole. The date of the hike is also quite poignant being the 10th anniversary of when I lost my mum.

I aim to raise £250 to help other mums find the light out of their hole. I will also be blogging about my journey over at my blog on Family Life Worcestershire.

Thank you so so much to everyone who has sponsored me and taken me over my target. Yesterday was the big day and we enjoyed a sunny and successful climb up and down Scafell Pike. It was more challenging than I thought and my legs are certainly telling me they worked hard. The total amount raise by everyone is more than £2000 as it stands , the is the equivalent of helping 100 mums onto an exercise course to help alleviate the symptoms of pnd. I'm absolutely thrilled that it's been so worthwhile.
