Story
On September 23rd six of our team at Littledale Hall will be setting out on a bike ride from one national treasure to another - Edinburgh Castle to Lancaster Castle.
180 miles, in 3 days, on bicycles fueled by peddle power, grit, steel and granola bars
Phil is a much loved member of the community; always helping out with groups and 1-2-1 sessions. To thank Phil for his work, we want to help raise enough money so he can buy a new wheelchair. One that will suit his small figure, support his seating, and importantly will allow him freedom of movement both inside and out. His current chair is over 18 years old, is rusty, has wonky wheels, and has basically seen better days and he needs a new one a lot.
The NHS can’t provide a chair to fit his needs, a situation many wheelchair users face in the UK. Due to cut-backs the only chair they can provide is a basic one-size-fits all model that is just too big - he can’t operate it for more than a few minutes at a time without causing his back a great deal of pain and it really wears him out.
We’re not able to help everyone, but we’d like to help Phil...and we hope you will too.
Campaign Route
Day 1: Edinburgh Castle to Hawick
Day 2: Hawick to Penrith
Day 3: Penrith to Lancaster Castle
We really hope to make this a successful campaign, we have trained (our legs off) and are raring to go. By September 25th we may feel different, especially after navigating the east Cumbrian fells (and rain). When we do eventually reach Lancaster Castle, we’ll hopefully have raised enough to help Phil towards buying his own brand-spanking-new chair, and then we’ll know it’ll all have been worth it.
Our Campaign
If you would like to support our campaign helping Phil please donate here or get in touch @LittledaleHall. Any and all donations, no matter the size, will be hugely appreciated by us & Phil.
Thanks, wish us luck, and yep ... we'll need it

8 years agoTomorrow is the last day of the campaign to help fund my new wheelchair. These last few weeks have been awesome, & have reminded me not only how many special people I have in my life, but also that there are many kind and generous people out there that I have yet to meet. So one last big thanks to everyone who has supported the campaign, all the Littledale Hall staff & their families who are amazing, my own family & friends who have been so kind and encouraging, & anyone else who has supported us in whatever way they could. Bless you all, Phil
