Story
Amy has Rett Syndrome; She was diagnosed just before she was 2.
Rett Syndrome is a Neurological disorder, which in Amy’s case is caused by a deletion of part of her MECP2 gene. Amy has lost her motor skills and speech. Amy is like most other 3 year olds, and enjoys a good poop/trump joke, has a wicked sense of humour and a love of animals and being around other kids.
Amy has a Tobii PCEyego and laptop, which was funded last year collectively by friends, family, work colleagues and strangers! And Last but not least, mostly by local charity Friends of Alfie Johnson.
Now we need to be taught how best to use this, and develop her knowledge of picture communication especially in the classroom setting as Amy prepares to start school in 2017.
Here are a few links about Rett Syndrome, and a link to her facebook page.

In addition to this I will be taking Rett University Courses as and when I can.

7 years agoThank you again for everyones generosity and help. I am having my hair cut off on 8th Feb. A kind lady who helps run Noah's Ark Playgroup at Lye Salvation Army is going to do this. They will also be taking pictures which I can post on here. I will get a paper sponser form for those that would prefer this, and put the total from that onto here as well. It would be great if everyone could share this and Amy's page, you never know who might spot it, perhaps someone going through a similar process- it is always good to swap ideas!

7 years agoAt the end of January I shall have my hair cut off. The length is currently down to to bottom of my back, I havent had it cut for 2 years. I will cut aprox 21 inches of hair, the ponytail will be sent to the Little pricess trust, as they will hopefully be able to use this for wigs. I will be looking for sponsorship to do this though to fund Amy's AAC lessons :) Its a sacrifice as I dont do well with short hair- to be honest I look like a troll! I will also dye it something bright and cheerful, purple and green, the rett uk colours.
