Story
My name is Kelly Jackson and I am a second year student paediatric nurse. As part of my studies I have been given the opportunity to travel to Tanzania for an elective placement. Whilst I am there I will work in a variety of settings, varying from busy hospitals to community clinics. I will also spend a week living in a traditional village with the Maasai tribe working alongside local health care practitioners.
This opportunity is huge and I am so excited by the prospect of working with children and families in this wonderful part of the world.
However, the cost is great, final figures are still not in but I know it is going to cost in the region of £2000-£2500.
So the challenge of fundraising lies before me! The main event that I doing to raise money is the London Marathon. Now I am no athlete, I am currently WALKING 4-5 miles every other day, I am hoping to be walk/jogging by mid November.
Now everyone knows that the London Marathon is an epic challenge, so is fundraising, and come to think of it studying to be a nurse isn't a walk in the park either! But I will do this, I will carry on working hard at university so that I can achieve my dream of getting a first class degree. I will get the miles in so that I can walk/run the London marathon. I can control those two things, but the third thing? Well I need your help to achieve that

8 years agoSo a quick update about my training. It is going really well and I am feeling stronger and stronger everyday. Thinking about what I might see in Africa certainly helps me to remain focused. I am sticking to my target of walking 4-5 miles 3 times a week and also doing cardio and strength training in between. I have recieved many words of encouragement and support, but it would be fantastic if people would be willing to sponsor me also? Any amount, big or small will make a huge difference, thank you xx
