    Story

Back in April 2017, a small back injury which resulted in a slipped disc has now escalated into ongoing problems, causing myself to be incapable of going back to work, look after my children, drive properly, walk far and made day-to-day life a misery for myself, my wife and my children, also resulting in a recent breakdown in mental health from being given the run around from GP's and Doctors for months and also the horrid feeling of not being able to provide for my family and being stuck in constantly.

I have 6 children (5 girls & 1 boy), 4 of which still live at home with myself and my wife. but the last 15 months have been a challenge to say the least. On September 23rd 2016 we awoke to the news that our eldest child (our son) was involved in a severe car accident as a passenger and we had to rush to the hospital as he was in a bad way but, against all the odds he survived but also sadly resulting in him being paralysed from the waist down. That saying, we all as a family helped one another (especially our son) through the ordeal as he was in rehabilitation for 6 months but in that time we ourselves had to move house as ours at the time was a 3 story townhouse and un-accommodating for wheelchair use but also within that time we ate into our savings resulting in the current situation through myself being unable to work since April and and having no way of getting the funding to get the treatment to have the surgery which is needed to get myself back in working order.

My injury started off as L5 /S1 disc slip and for a short period eased off as usually the disc will pop back in by itself over time but mine slipped more resulting in severe sciatica down both legs, numbness to the right lower leg and foot, chronic lower back pain and drastically affecting my mental state of mind which, in turn, affects the whole family. I have done exactly as I have been asked to do by every doctor / nurse / GP but as we all know, the NHS is understaffed, overworked and underfunded so the waiting time on an injury such as mine is a very long time. I need a course of cortisone injections into my lower back then an operation to remove the slipped disc and replaced, followed by re-fusion of the spine. If this were to happen i could be back to living a normal, working family life in as little as 6 months.

I am usually a proud man who likes to get things done myself but through the course of a series of unfortunate events, I feel I have no other options left than to ask for help to get the funding needed for the operation to give me and my family our lives back. Any donations would be gratefully received in more ways than you would know
