In May 2010 Tracey Brown (a dear colleague of mine) had major gynaecology surgery at Llandough Hospital and was operated on by Consultant Mr Robert Howells, Mr Ken Lim and their team and afterwards was cared for so well by the doctors, nurses and staff on Delyth Ward. They were all absolutely amazing.

The gynaecology/oncology team have now moved to the University Hospital of Wales (UHW) treating many women from across south Wales. Since then Tracey promised Mr Howells she would raise money for the department and since 2010 have raised small amounts where she could and so far the grand total is £2,200, often just asking friends and family for a £1 coin! In addition Tracey also collects toiletries several times a year which are given to women who are admitted in an emergency to Ward C1 at UHW. She has also helped to make the relatives/quiet room look a little more homely in the consultants clinic at UHW with the generous support of local stores.

I have offered to run the Cardiff half marathon, (which will be my first) on October 7th 2018. Tracey and I would love to raise £500 for the amazing gynae/oncology team. Please donate whatever you can (£1 is great) as they desperately need every penny which they will use on additional training for nurses to bring skills and research back to the ward and clinic at University Hospital of Wales.
