There has been a Rifle Club in Kirk Michael since the early part of the 20th Century, but the club's future is under threat.

The club's current league team is struggling along with the bare minimum membership needed to compete, but notwithstanding that, the club itself has become quite a thriving hub for youngsters in the village, who come up on the Friday club night to shoot and socialise. Some of these youngsters are showing early promise, so may yet be league team members of the future - as long as the club is able to stay open long enough for them to develop and improve.

Unfortunately, recent adverse weather has badly damaged the roof of the range, and resulted in severe water ingress, mainly affecting the ground floor. Because the water appears mainly to be coming in under the edges of the roof and running down the walls, the problem is not yet too badly affecting the upstairs, where our firing points are. However, if left untreated, it will only be a matter of time before we encounter problems there too, and we will be forced to close our doors.

The club desperately needs to get the roof fixed, but financially we just don't have the money to pay for it. There are options for applying for grant/lottery funding, but the process could take weeks or months, which we are not sure we have if the weather does not improve.

Any donations to help us fund the repairs to the roof would be most gratefully received, and any monies raised over and above those required to effect the repairs will be used only to improve the facilities and equipment in the club so it can continue as a resource for the village, for experienced shooters and especially for those new to the sport, young and old who might otherwise not have such an opportunity on their doorstep.
