    Story

We're amazed & overwhelmed by the support so far & have decided to push it a little further. Having nearly reached our target 10 weeks before the climb we've increased it! Thank you for your support!

In 2014 I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, I was 30 years old, had given birth to twins 10 months prior to diagnosis and already had a 2 year old. I didn't think something like this could happen to me. I underwent 6 sessions of Chemotherapy, a Mastectomy, Radiotherapy, and several reconstruction operations, all of this taking just over 3 years. I experienced some awful moments and times I thought I would not be there to see my children grow up.
The care and support I received from the local Breast Care Team was fantastic. They were there every step of the way making sure I understood the process and had the support I needed. Even after all of my treatments were complete they recognised I was not quite right and made a referral for me to speak to the Mental Health Team to deal with the issues I was going through.
All of this has made me incredibly passionate about ensuring this care can continue to be provided by the team at the breast care unit using the most up to date facilities.
I have decided to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro with my brother and sister to raise money to donate to the local Breast Care Unit. This is not a decision I have taken lightly as I still suffer with side effects and have never climbed a mountain before (I can't even climb the stairs!) But I am hoping with your help I will raise enough for them to buy specialist equipment and training to help others going through what I did.
