    Story

    THE BELLS OF LANTEGLOS

There have been bells at St Julitta's Lanteglos by Camelford for over 500 years. 3 were already in the tower in the 16th century and were recast in a field in Helstone in 1783 plus another was cast at that time. Then in 1883/6 another 2 were added . The bell frame was made by the well known Harry Stokes in 1914.

Sadly, the 6 bells are no longer safe to ring and they are much missed. The church and the tower have been recently restored and improved - so we now need to get the bells ringing again for everyone to enjoy and to mark important community events.

After reading the collection of papers about the restoration, I was so impressed that I thought I’d help out with the fundraising towards the bells.

Looking forward to hearing bells in the valley sometime in the future. A church without bells is like strawberries without Cornish Cream!
