My brother Alejandro suffers Myotonic Dystrophy Steinert disease, which causes lungs malfunction and sleep apnea (moments where he stops breathing and the quantity of oxygen held within the lungs decreases and the carbon dioxide stays), therefore, he needs a BiPAP machine , which will help to control the damage caused by these apneas.

It has been a long journey so far, everything started when he was a teenager and showed some symptoms; however, and unfortunately we just assumed it was him being lazy and never thought that could have been a medical condition, therefore it got diagnosed until his 30’s.

My brother is an amazing person, he is a great son, brother and uncle and as this illness doesn’t have any cure, I really want him to be able to enjoy and stay in the best shape possible while he is still with us.

The donation will go directly to Alejandro and our father who is taking care of him, so they will be able to fund all the expenses for his treatment.

Mi hermano Alejandro tiene una enfermedad llamada Distrofia Miotónica de Steiner, la cual hace que sus pulmones no funcionen adecuadamente y que tenga apneas (lapsos donde no respira durante la noche y donde disminuye la cantidad de oxigeno que entra a sus pulmones y aumenta la cantidad de bióxido de carbono que se queda en ellos); por lo tanto, necesita un aparato llamado BiPAP , el cual le va a ayudar a disminuir el daño que causan las apneas.

Ha sido una etapa complicada hasta ahora, todo comenzó cuando él era joven y mostraba algunos síntomas; sin embargo y desafortunadamente, asumimos que solo se comportaba así por flojera y nunca pensamos que podría haber sido una condición médica, por lo tanto, lo diagnosticaron hasta que tenia poco alrededor de los 30.

Mi hermano es una persona maravillosa, es un excelente hijo, hermano y tío, y como su enfermedad no tiene cura, solo deseo que el pueda disfrutar y estar en la mejor forma posible mientras está con nosotros.

La donación ira directamente a Alejandro y a nuestro padre, que está cuidando de él, para que tengan la posibilidad de solventar los gastos de su tratamiento.

Mio fratello Alejandro soffre da una malattia chiamata Distrofia Miotonica di Steiner, la quale causa un malfunzionamiento dei polmoni e induce a momenti di apnea (periodi dove la respirazione si ferma, la quantita dell´ossigeno rimanente nei polmoni si riduce e l´anidride carbonica rimane), pertanto ha bisogno di una macchina BiPAP , che lo aiutera a ridurre il danno causato dall´apnea.

Fino a questo momento è stato un periodo difficile, i sintomi sono iniziati nella pubertà, però purtroppo tutti abbiamo pressunto che fosse pigrizia, e mai avremmo pensato che fosse una malattia genetica che è stata diagnosticata fino ai suoi 30 anni.

Mio frattelo è una persona incredibile, un bravissimo figlio, frattello e zio, considerando che purtroppo questa malattia è incurabile, quello che gli desidero è che possa godere la vita stando nella migliore forma possibile durante il tempo in cui sarà con noi.
