My brother has been having a foot issue for the past 3 years that has been constantly misdiagnosed. The issue has gotten worse over the years and after seeing about 11 doctors in that period, the final diagnosis is foot drop because of damage to his sciatic nerve.
He will need to have 3 surgeries in one intervention which with all costs ends up to be £4500. This is a lot of money in Romania, especially as he needs to have the intervention as soon as possible (second week in Sep) as he is starting his final year of A levels and he has his baccalaureate exams next year.
For those wondering, these surgeries are: Achilles tendon lengthening, Tarsectomy and Fasciotomy to make his foot fairly normal again.
He will also have to undergo weekly treatment after the surgery which adds up to £200 a month or more.
For my family in Romania these are extremely high costs, especially for a last minute situation and I am hoping people can sympathise and help Alex, who is still a minor and has been through a lot on the past years.
