Parishioners from a number of churches in the Doncaster area have kindly donated almost £1000 to purchase sleeping bags to be taken to refugees in Moria Camp on the Greek island of Lesbos.

We may think of this part of the world as idyllic in summer with it’s endless sunshine and beautiful beaches, but the winter reality is the very opposite with bitter winds and below zero temperatures. While we see tented communities on the TV, many people have no shelter at all and struggle for survival – men, women and many small children.

THOUSANDS of refugees are needing help NOW to survive the harsh winter conditions and the UK sends shipments of much needed food, clothing, hygiene items and medical aid.

I have been asked to go along as a volunteer and help to ensure that the aid reaches those most in need, and I will be working as part of a team who have been many times.

Any donations – however small – will be greatly appreciated. On my return I hope to bring relevant photographs and stories to share and show how your donations can make a real difference to those in desperate need.
