Story
Hi, I am Lily Morley and I am 14 years old. In September 2017, I was offered the once in a lifetime opportunity to go to Cambodia for a month, which will take place in the summer of 2019. Due to scale of this fantastic trip, it is quite a substantial amount of money, so I will be also be holding fundraising events to eventually raise the £4000 needed for this trip to be possible for me.
As you can imagine, at 14 years old this is a huge opportunity and I feel that it would be a big mistake if i didn't take it up. This trip will enable me to meet new people, make new friends and to learn new skills, that I otherwise wouldn't, which will stay with me through the rest of my life. On this trip, I will be helping the locals with their farming, building and their day-to-day chores like washing and collecting water. These are all things which I take for granted, so helping people with these activities would give me a sense of well-being and would allow me to open my eyes and see how other people live their life within other cultures.
Cambodia is located in the South-East of Asia and has a population of around 15 million. Despite having some of the most beautiful beaches and idyllic temples, it is still one of the poorest countries, with most of the population still employed in farming and being paid roughly the equivalent of £1 a day. Going out to Cambodia and helping the communities within the villages with things like building and farming will not only help the people living in the villages, but will also give me a sense of achievement.

6 years agoTo raise money for this trip on the 8th July I am also doing a Tough Mudder Course. It is a 5 mile obstacle course with 13 obstacles all covered in mud. It would mean a lot if I could get as many sponsors as possible as this will be very difficult and will require a lot of training - but I'm excited!
