Story
This is a very simple but powerful idea to make something happen fairly quickly and create a win - win together as a community, for everyone who enjoys this trail, and for the farmer that uses the land.
This will keep kids, families, dogs, runners and indeed the cows safe. People will then beable to walk and run down the trail by themselves with confidence.
Anyone who donates over £25 will get their name on a plaque at the top of the trail as a significant contributor.
The trail is at the top of Limb Valley just down from the Norfolk Arms. There are cattle grazing in the field, and people often feel intimated cutting through as they do like to graze on or close to the path itself. There have been a couple of incidents over the past few years, and this should provide a proactive solution to stop this happening again.
More and more people are enjoying this trail, the council will be adding some resurfacing and drainage work to help with erosion. The farmer is happily working with us to make this happen as this situation has caused him a deal of stress over the years in an occupation that is far from easy.
The trail is part of the outdoor city run routes, the Sheffield round walk, and for many using the limb valley as a scenic walk with family and friends or out with the dog. The footfall on the trail is likely to increase. It is also used by quite a few local events.
It makes sense that as a community we can make this section of trail safe and enjoyable for everyone concerned.
The target is to raise the funds in just 48 hours!
Everything is set up for the work to commence with all parties having agreed to the proposal.
The fence would run 475m and be 4m wide including a gate for farmer access and stiles to access the lesser footpaths higher up.
The farmer will maintain the fence once installed by a competent fencing contractor.

6 years agoMany of you may have noticed that the fence has now been up for a few weeks now, and looks great. The council have also completed their resurfacing work, so the whole thing has come together well. The plaque is currently being designed and will hopefully be put up at the top of the trail next week. Thanks all!
